Shamarra Alpacas

Shamarra Alpaca Farm

Shamarra Alpacas is a 35-hectare alpaca farm located near French Farm, Akaroa, on the South Island of New Zealand, only one hour from Christchurch. The herd of 120+ coloured Huacaya alpaca is bred specifically for very fine, soft and luxurious fibre from which products are all New Zealand made and are available in the Alpaca Shop.

Many of our alpacas have been awarded championships as well as supreme championships at shows throughout New Zealand. A number of alpacas are offered for sale every year to other discerning alpaca breeders both in New Zealand and overseas.

Frank and Anya are passionate about alpaca. They believe in the future of these unique animals in New Zealand and overseas where increasing demand for the superior qualities of their valuable fibre is creating a new niche industry in the luxury fibre market.
